Show Legion to Conduct Memorial Day Rites Band and Legionnaires to March In Procession to the Cemeteries For Special Services Engraved in the hearts and memory of all America Amer-ica is the heroism of the fallen dead. Their courage is the highest example of the spirit of this democratic people. There is no set religion, race, or creed in our hearts . . . we are free, and there is in the hearts of American people peo-ple a common understanding and appreciation of principles that ' counteract all that would jeopardize jeopar-dize that .freedom. The great sacrifice of the vet-rrans vet-rrans who died in the World War, and of their living comrades, can provide us with a warning; and the observance of Memorial day serves j a dual purpose first, to honor the men who fell in battle, and second, to rededicate ourselves to the ideals for which they fought, which is of vital importance in these precarious pre-carious times. In this way we can best serve to keep alive the best principles of freedom and democracy. Friday morning, Springville citi- ! zens will join with other Ameri- ' cans of the nation in paying special spe-cial tribute to the war dead. The Spring-ville band and the American Legion will march from the Memorial hall, beginning at 10 a. m., to the City cemetery, where special graveside services will be conducted. The group will then proceed to the Evergreen ceme- i tery, where services will also be conducted. Ceremonies at the cemeteries will be under the direction direc-tion of the local post commander, John Miller. Under the direction of Committeemen Commit-teemen H. T. Reynolds and Bill Phillips, all the graves of the veterans vet-erans will be appropriately decorated. |
