In view of French-German rapprochement, rap-prochement, the six points named by the cabinet member might be increased by adding Dakar, in Africa, Af-rica, if its importance as a base of operation against South America has not been overestimated in recent re-cent month3. Certainly, possession of the French port will add greatly to the Nazi menace against South American nations and increase the difficulties under which we would have to maintain the Monroe Doctrine Doc-trine on that continent. SIX KEY MILITARY POINTS CONTROL WORLD "Six key military locations control con-trol the world," said Secretary of Agriculture Claude Wickard, in an address delivered at Raleigh, N. C. Four of these points are controlled controll-ed by the British Empire Gibraltar, Gibral-tar, Suez, Singapore, and the island is-land on which England is located. The other two Panama' and Hawaii Ha-waii are controlled by the United States. Mr. Wickard explains that three of these control points are now under attack as the Axis attempts to acquire complete control of Europe Eu-rope and Africa. He urges us to see that food and munitions reach the British "safely and in time." The Secretary of Agriculture believes be-lieves that if the United States acts quickly enough, the striking force ' of this country and the British Empire Em-pire can check Hitler. "If we are too late, the striking force of the rest of the world, under Hitler domination, is likely to converge upon us."
