Martain, after their son Jack called from California Cali-fornia to say he was back in this country from Korea, but would be m the hospital at Camp Pendleton, Pendle-ton, near Oceanside, with a frozen foot. He reported he was getting along fine and was looking forward for-ward to a 30-day furlough which he hoped to get after the cold weather is over here. The Martins had not heard from their son for three weeks since he wrote about standing guard all night in three feet of snow, 26 below be-low zero, in Korea. With the First Marines, he had walked 38 miles after his foot was frozen, and was with the troops caught in the red trap. He said there were many more men worse off then he. Jack naa been in Korea and on the fighting front since Thanksgiving. Thanks-giving. He arrived in California December 23, and immediately called his folks.
