Show Telephone Rates to Be increased j, i Business and premium service bearu telephone users will bear the brunt of a $1,379,931 rate increase granted to the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co. last week by the State Public Service Commission. The new rate schedule was filed Monday with the commission. It will become effective in next month's telephone bill. The new increases are approximately approxi-mately 64 of the amount sought by the M S T & T. The increase in residential telephone tele-phone bills will range from 20c monthly for a four-party line in Salt Lake City to $1 for a private line in Ogden and Provo. Private lines increase in Salt Lake City will be 75c. Private business lines will go up $3 per month in the Salt Lake metropolitan area. Only telephone subscribers not affected by the order were rural telephones in Salt Lake County, who received no increase. Other rural MST&T customers throughout through-out the state will pay 25c per month more. The schedule also ups pay telephones tele-phones in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo from 5c to 10c per call. The increases are: One party 75c in Salt Lake City and medium sized Utah towns, $1 in Ogden, Provo, Farmington, Hyrum, Logan, Lo-gan, Smithfield and Spanish Fork. Two party 75c in Ogden and 50c elsewhere. Four party 20c in Salt Lake City and 25c elsewhere.
