Show Police Without Automobile as Result of Wreck Springville police officers Wednesday Wed-nesday were without a car as result re-sult of an accident which happened hap-pened in Spanish Fork at 11 p.m. Tuesday, when Glenn W. Coffman, extra police officer, was chasing a car traveling 75 miles per hour. The Springville- officer had been notified by Provo police to look for a speeding motorist, so when the car sped through this city, Coffman gave chase. On the road going into Spanish Span-ish Fork, a car driven by Velyn McClellan attempted to make a turn on the road and Coffman, traveling west side-swipped the car. McClellan was given a ticket for failure to yield to an emergency emer-gency vehicle. Later Spanish Fork police officers, offi-cers, notifed of the speeder, picked pick-ed up Jack Phil Jameson, 21, of Spanish Fork as he was traveling near 75 miles an hour on Spanish Fork Main Street, in his recently purchased 1952 Cadillac. He was booked for reckless driving and turned over to the Springville officers of-ficers who lodged him in the city jail. His wife was coming over Wednesday afternoon to post $45 bail. Damage to the police car was estimated at $125 and to the McClellan Mc-Clellan car about $150. Commenting on the case, Chief H. M. Weight stated Wednesday that Coffman was acting on authority auth-ority when he chased the speeding speed-ing automobile through Springville Spring-ville and into Spanish Fork. |
