Show Reducing Diet Should Include Three Good Meals A well planned reducing diet should include three well balanced meals each day, beginning with breakfast Velyn B. Stevens, Home Demonstration agent, says. She explained, "In reducing diets it is especially important that the day's total food intake be distributed over three meals." A recent diet study offers a. reducing re-ducing plan thate puts special emphasis em-phasis on a full breakfast for a weight-losing regime. This helps control appetite through the day. Other studies show that food eaten early in the day is digested and absorbed largely during the most active daytime hours. Food eaten at night shortly before going to bed is digested and absorbed largely during the period when the body needs it least. That is when the excess is likely to be deposited as fat. The plan is to cut calories in all meals. Starting with breakfast, do it this way. A basic breakfast pattern pat-tern fruit, cereal, milk, bread and butter is easily adjusted bj replacing the 4 ounces of whol milk in the cereal serving with 4 ounces of skim milk, by cutting in half the sugar eaten with th cereal servings; by including onlj one slice of bread, with V2 tea spoon of butter; and by adding poached or soft-cooked egg. |
