The dining table held a pretty birthday cake designed with a doll in the center and candles on the outer edge. Autumn flowers were also used in decorations. Di.tner guests included Grant's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn, his brother Paul and wife and their daughter June and a brother Bryce and his wife and little daughter, and members of the immediate im-mediate family. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Thorpe have returned from a two weeks trip to the coast. They were accompanied ac-companied by Mr. Thorpe's sisters, Mrs. Alice Davis and Mrs. Eva Burton of Salt Lake City. The Thorpe's visited Mrs. Thorpe's sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Bessie West at El Se-gunda, Se-gunda, and stayed with her during a major operation from which she . is reported convalescing. Mrs. Davis visited her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stone (RaNae) and children at Long Beach, and Mrs.' Burton was the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Rodney Snow in Santa Monica and other friends and .relatives. Enroute going go-ing and returning, they all enjoyed dinner and a show in Las Vegas Mrs. M. O. Packard returned recently re-cently to her home in Los Angeles Calif., after a two weeks visit in Springville with Mr. and Mrs. F. C Packard. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Packard back to Springville on their return from a trip to the coast. by her grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Carnesecca, Sr., at the home of an aunt, Mrs. Louis DeRose. Approximately Ap-proximately one hundred friends and relatives called during the afternoon. In the evening, a Smorgasbord was given at the DeRose home for immediate family members. The bride is a daughter of the late John and Theda Carnesecca. Mr. Spencer's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Spencer of Provo. The couple exchanged wedding vows on October 22, at the home of the bridegroom's sister, with Judge Joseph Nelson performing the ceremony and are. now making their home in Provo. A teal blue balerina-length gown was chosen by the bride for. the candlelight wedding ceremony and her corsage was of red. roses and white carnations. Immediately after the rites, a wedding supper was given for members of the two families. Approximately sixty people attended at-tended the Thursday evening smorgasbord smor-gasbord in Springville given for the young couple, with the following follow-ing from out-of-town: Mr. and Mrs. Herman Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Lay, Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. Murt Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gor-don Norman of Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Orin Spencer of Lehi; Mrs. Cy Seymour, Mr. and Mrs. : ls D.E. Club enjoys Turkey Dinner The high school D. E. Club under un-der the direction of Dee Sanford held a social gathering Wednesday evening of last week in the form of a turkey supper at the home of Margene Hurst at Mapleton. The group played games and made plana for other activities of the club. Attending the party were: Mar-gene Mar-gene Hurst, Afton Gurr, Larry Chadwick, Ted Crandall, Nadine Hansen, Marilyn Roylance, Barbara Bar-bara Carter. Donna Lee, Dennie Murray, Roslyn Hall, Arlene Isaacson, Cinton Swanson, David Norton, Babs Harold, Helen Wing and Geraldine Thorpe. Mr. and Mrs. Roe Thorn and five children have returned to Springville Spring-ville and are making their home at 61 East Seventh South, after spending the past several years in Tooele. Roe is employed in Salt Lake City. Bishop and Mrs. E. F. Best had as luncheon guests the past week, Mrs. Best's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Jay W. Tuckfield and their daughter, Mrs. Marian Cox and baby of Salt Lake City. Allen Beck of Orem; Mr. and Mrs. Reed Barker, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thornton, Mr. and Mrs.' John Burton, Bur-ton, Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Thomas Thom-as of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Towers of Murray; also Mrs. Esther Es-ther Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nor-man Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Perrero and members of the Carnesecca Car-nesecca families of Springville and Mapleton. Burleigh Ames is improving after af-ter an illness of several weeks and eight days in the hospital for blood transfusions. He is now able to return re-turn to his work. ' Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hansen visited visit-ed recently in Idaho with Mrs. Hansen's brothers and families at Driggs, and at Idaho Falls and Caldwell, where they attended the wedding reception of a niece, Ar-lene Ar-lene Christensen. Otto Fry, Dist. Governor of the Lions club, and Mrs. Fry were in southeastern Utah the past .week attending club , meetings at Mon-ticello, Mon-ticello, Moab and at Castledale, making his official visits Monday through Thursday. While in Moab, they visited a number of places of interest including' the uranium mines. The Frys in company with Marvin Warren, district Lion cabinet cab-inet secretary and Mrs. Warren were in Salt Lake City Saturday afternoon to attend a Central Council meeting and in the evening even-ing were dinner guests of Dist. Governor Rendell Mabey and his wife at their beautiful new home in Bountiful. Mr. Mabey also entertained en-tertained the guests with pictures of his recent big game hunt in Alaska and of plans to hunt big game next summer in South Africa. Afri-ca. . , Mrs. W. D. Mendenhall returned to her home the latter part of last week from a few days stay in Las Vegas, Nev., where Mr. Mendenhall has contact construction construc-tion work. She and her daughter Connie are planning to join Mr. Mendenhall there some time in the near future to make their home. Miss Sharlene Bjarnson, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Bjarnson, has gone to Cheyenne, Wyo., to enter training for United Airlines stewardess. After six weeks, she expects to graduate in Denver and will then be taken on a plane tour of United Airlines bases and stops throughout the United States. |
