Show Mapleton City Requests Postoffice; Lights Being Placed on Highways At the Mapleton City Council meeting Monday night a letter requesting the establishment of a post office in Mapleton was approved for mailing to the jassitant post master general with copies going to the congressmen. Some of the street lights on the highway have been installed and are a definite improvement. The blinker light at Maple Street and the highway will be installed very soon. v The road committee and the mayor ma-yor are going to meet with county coun-ty commissioners in regards to improving im-proving some roads coming into the city. The new teen-age summer vocational voca-tional education recreation program pro-gram being developed by the central cen-tral Utah Vocational school was discussed by the council. More information in-formation will be obtained and discussed dis-cussed further at a future meeting. Appreciation was expressed for services rendered by Fern Cran-dall Cran-dall and Laura Bennett who recently re-cently resigned from the city planning plan-ning commission. LaVell Bird was chosen to replace re-place Laura Bennett on the commission. com-mission. The expenditures for 1954 were reviewed and the tentative budget for 1955 was developed. The public hearing for the 1955 budget will be held December 20. |
