Show Mapleton Mews By Mrs. Norris T. Binks Phone 0109-R4 Mr. and Mrs. S. La Veil Bird accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Esther Hurst and Mrs. Fern Whitney spent Sunday Sun-day in Ogden visiting with relatives. rela-tives. They went especially to see Walter Hurst who has been ill for some time. The members of the Mapleton DTJP were entertained at the home of Mrs. Nellie Wiscombe Thursday afternoon. Alga Mackley, , Millie Bird and Jean Harding assisted the hostess. The lesson was given by Alice Johnson and her subject was "Mormon Settlements." Millie Bird gave the history of her great grandfather. A piano selection was played by, Vinona Davies and a poem was read by Nellie Wiscombe. Wis-combe. Refreshments were served to thirty two members. Dean Binks, who will leave soon for Port Ord, Calif., and Bernell be investigated and reported later. Saturday afternoon was set apart as a work day for JC members where they finished the street -signs for the city. Mrs. Margaret Larsen has enjoyed en-joyed the company of several of her relatives from Idaho this week. Her mother, Mrs. J. B. Clyde and her sisters Mrs. Frank Russell and Mrs. Charles Burris of Parma, Idaho' Ida-ho' and Mrs. Till Sanford of Paul, Idaho were among her guests. Open house was hold for Mrs. Clyde at the home of Mrs. Larsen, Thursday afternoon the occasion being her 82nd birthday. A family dinner was served earlier to the relatives from Idaho arid also included in-cluded Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sanford, San-ford, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn, E. H. Martindale all of Springville. Binks who has recently returned" from four years of service in the air force were honored at a party Friday night at the home of an aunt Mrs. Zina Dibble. She was assisted by Lillian Binks, Hannah Binks, Mae Binks and Amanda Binks. Refreshments were served to twenty five. Kent Johnson of Ephraim spent Thursday and Friday at the home of Darrell Warren. They both returned re-turned to Ephraim to register at. Snow College for the mid-winter term. ""Mrs. Mabel Hansen was hostess to twelve members of the Sierra Bonita Club at her home Wednesday Wednes-day night. .Glenna Warren and Patricia Pa-tricia Hall assisted her. Mrs. Leola Curtiss was the guest speaker who talked on feminine hygeine. Miss Jerry Fullmer who is attending at-tending business college in Salt Lake City spent the weekend visiting visit-ing at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Fullmer. The Relief Society officers of the two Mapleton wards were entertained enter-tained at a party in the Relief Society So-ciety rooms Wednesday night. The First ward officers were hosts to the officers of the Second ward. Gladys Parry was in charge and was assisted by Ethel Jensen and Agnes Harrison. Games were played play-ed under the direction of Barbara Murray. Refreshments were served to thirty officers. Mr. and Mrs. Norris T. Binks spent the weekend visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Blair Binks of Salt Lake City. They also visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jos-eph Erickson and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Clark. The Jaycee Club presidents of Utah County met Tuesday night in the Mapleton Memorial Hall. Mel Grant of American Fork, who is a member of the Highway Patrol gave a lecture on "How Speed Zones are Determined." The next meeting of J. C. Presidents will be held December the 7th at Lehi. The Mapleton JC's held their regular meeting Thursday in the Mapleton Memorial Hall with the green color group in charge, Frank Carnesecca and Martin Marchello. A short business meeting was held at. which it was suggested the Mapleton club form a blood bank for use at the Utah Valley hospital for residents of Mapleton. This will |
