Show ' Funeral Services Held Here for Mrs. Retta Kearns Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Third ward chapel, for Mrs. Loretta Chase Kearns, 82, who died unexpectedly un-expectedly Saturday evening of a heart attack at her home, 195 East Second North St. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, ce-metery, under direction of Claudin Funeral home. Mrs. Kearns was born in Springville Spring-ville January 15, 1872, the daughter daugh-ter of John and Hannah Fuller Chase. She received her education in the Springville' schools and in 1890 was married to William H. Keams. Together they established the widely known Kearns Hotel in Springville which they operated until 1937. After the death of her husband in 1940, Mrs. Kearns moved to Provo where she made her home until this year when she returned to Springville. Mother of the late Howard Kearns, artist, she also did considerable con-siderable art work and was active in art circles. She was a member of the LDS Church and Springville camp Daughters of Pioneers. Survivors include a son and a daughter, J. Arthur Kearns and Mrs. W. O. (Dora) McKenzie, both of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren, grand-children, .. six great grandchildren; three sisters,' Mrs. Myrtle Clark, Idaho Falls, Ida.; Mrs. Mattie Hail and Mrs. Delia Rigby, both of Rigby, Ida. ; and one brother, Glenn Chase, also of Rigby. |
