Show All Power To Prosper Comes From God '"THE fundamental fact in all that concerns the Christian in relation to his possessions and his economic relations is to be found in two verses from the eighth chapter of Deuteronomy. This basic fact is that it is God that "giveth thee power to gel wealth." It is this fact that no matter how great, successful and seemingly seem-ingly all-powerful and self-sufficient a man becomes, he depends de-pends upon something outside o himself and beyond his control which Jesus emphasizes so pointedly. In the parable of the successful farmer, He tells of the man whose fields brought forth plentifully, plen-tifully, and who planned to pull down his barns and build greater ones. He had built up a great heritage, but the farmer had left out of account the most important import-ant thing of all his own life. God said: "This night thy soul shall be required of thee." The farmer was typical of many who think chiefly of their own success, and who are not, in the words of the parable, "rich toward God." It is the Christian investment of all that we are and have that makes up our offering in being rich toward God. Only in this way, the practice of a Christian way of life, can we repay He who owns all things, because all things come from Him. |
