He flZ 26 missions over Europe in a B-24 and was shot down over France on the 27th mission and at a verv insistent invitation spent the next year as a non-paying guest of the third Reich. When he returned there was a 16-month.old daughter daugh-ter waiting for him. He enrolled at Hrf? state for the school year 1945-46 and then transferred to BYU where he attended until 1949 where he obtained two boys and two degrees (B.S. and M.S.). Later he rejoined the army. "Since coming back into the army he has been fortunate to participate in two research projects pro-jects one in Malays, and the other in Madegascar. He also attended at-tended the University of Calif, for two years working towards a PhD. in parisitology. During this time another was given into their care. He came from the University of Calif, to Korea and since coming here another enlistment has taken place making a total of three sons and two daughters. "He has held a number of positions posi-tions in the church. He has worked work-ed in the Sunday School as a teacher and in the superinten-dency. superinten-dency. He has worked in the Mutual Mu-tual as an M Men president, assistant assis-tant scoutmaster, neighborhood commissioner, district commissioner commission-er and as a bishop representative. He has worked in the priesthood as advisor to the Deacons quorum and as secretary, counselor and president presi-dent of the Elder's quorum. He has been a member of a bishopric." Capt. Tipton has been in Seoul 16 months and has a daughter a year old in December, whom he has never seen. Also awaiting his arrival back in Springville, next month is a brand new home at 641 East Second Sec-ond North, the foundation of which was just in when he left for Seoul. He expects to be in Springville only a short time before going to St, Louis, Mo. on another assignment. assign-ment. His wife and five children are in the new home and are looking forward to a Christmas together this year. |
