Show Students Invited 1 To Enter Script, Oratory Contest Plans to conduct a Voice of Democracy contest were announc e this week by Louis Schardine ior Chamber of Commerce. A script writing and voice competition com-petition which gives high school students an opportunity to consider, con-sider, write and speak of the democratic de-mocratic fundamentals which have made America great, the Voice of Democracy contest will be judged on content, delivery and origina'ity of five-minute scripts on the subject, sub-ject, "I Speak for Democracy." All students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades may compete and the local winner will be entered in the state contest vieing for honors and awards which include a television tele-vision set. Four co-equal national winners, selected from state winners, will receive an expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., during the week of Washington's birthday. While there they will be received by the president, members of Congress, and other top government officials. Each will be presented with a scholarship check of $500 a national na-tional trophy and a TV set. Contest particulars are being made available to high school students stu-dents eligible, according to President Pres-ident Louis Schardine and further information concerning the contest may be secured by phoning or personally per-sonally contacting him. |
