Show s By LYN CONNELLY TF YOU'VE EVBR WONDERED why Frank Sinatra never can gain any weight, you need only tag along with him for a single week to find your answer . . . The wiry swooner seems im- bued with inexhaustible inex-haustible energy . . . Everyone else about him falls by the wayside panting, pant-ing, but he keeps going strong . . . Frank starts his week by consulting consult-ing with his four uritprs anH findmp SINATRA a story ne or CBS television show . . . He works out the details with the quartette and then starts making suggestions for the famous personalities whom he has as guests each week . . . When this project gets under way, he goes through his extensive collection of music and recordings to see what music will fit into the show. In the afternoon, he consults wltl Jack Donahue, his director, and they plot all the additional detas . and bits of comedy business so that by Tuesday morning at the second sec-ond conference with the writers, the entire hour-long show is outlined out-lined in every detail ... At the same time, Frank carefully reads the script his writers have submitted sub-mitted and goes over it with them for changes and revisions. Evenings, Frank devotes to appearing ap-pearing at the endless rounds of benefits and at least once a week, he will appear in any city or town between New York and San Francisco Fran-cisco for personal appearances at theaters and night clubs . . . All this in addition to a regular weekly radio show and TV guest appearances appear-ances . . . Recently when Sinatra was a guest on Jack Benny's show, he alternated between three different differ-ent CBS studios, rehearsing for the Benny program, rehearsing for his own show and taping his radio show. When the week was over, he boarded a plane for California to see his youngsters, then flew back to New York two days later to start in all over again . . . Why is Sinatra thin? That's easy! The question that's hard is how does he keep going? |
