Show Audience lauds Ability of Two Fine Artists A large and appreciative audience aud-ience highly praised the exceptional exception-al talent exhibited by the two fine artists, Mrs. Cora Thorn Bird and Becky. Almond in a musical concert con-cert here Friday evening. The program was given for the benefit of the new Third-Ninth ward chapel and was sponsored by the Relief Society organizations of the two wards, who are also to be commended for bringing the fine musical event to Springville. Spring-ville. The first group of Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century classic songs, was climaxed by Bach's beautiful, "My Heart Ever Faithful," Faith-ful," which again revealed Mrs. Bird's profound understanding and interpretation of "The Art Song." Her lyric-coloratura voice with its warm shadings and flowing tone, displayed versatile and rare ability in interpretating the rolls of Mimi and Mussetta from the opera "LaBoheme" and Juliet's Waltz Song from Romeo and Juliet. Jul-iet. The English songs warmed the hearts of the audience with affection af-fection for the personality which clothed these more familiar numbers num-bers with deeper meaning. Her delightful encores at the close, recalled to the listener the occasion oc-casion in which Cora Thorn Bird has returned Home and given her great gift such willing expression expres-sion in community benefit;, j Miss Becky Almond is an art-j art-j ist of rare and capable ability. |
