Show I Local The Reel Cross annual membership mem-bership drive will get underway in Springville immediately, according ac-cording to officers in charge. At a meeting held recently to discuss dis-cuss campaign plans, Peter Niel-son Niel-son was named roll call chairman chair-man and will select assistants in tlie various ward divisions. A total of 250 children preschool pre-school age, received the first inoculation in-oculation for diphtheria last Thursday, at the high school. The immunization program was sponsored by the Relief Society and the number who took advantage ad-vantage of the work was gratifying. gratify-ing. Dr. George A. Anderson and Miss Clara Sumsion, district public pub-lic health nurse, was in charge. The next inoculation is set for December 18, at the same time and place. To raise funds for their new ward chapel, the Mapleton Relief Society assisted by the auxiliary organizations of the ward, are sponsoring a bazaar in the amusement hall, on December 10. A fine program is being arranged ar-ranged for the occasion in addition ad-dition to other attractions to which the public will be invited. Through the efforts of Kolob stake Era directors, Mrs. Lela Sumsion and Glenn Sumsion, with the cooperation of the various vari-ous wards, the stake was third in the entire church to go over the top in the drive, it was announced an-nounced at Union meeting Sun- day. The Springville Second ward reported 200 per cent over the top in subscription. Schools will close for the Thanksgiving recess on Wednesday, Wednes-day, and will be reopened the following Monday, November 29. A special assembly will be held Wednesday morning, - with the Ag club in charge. A large and appreciative audience audi-ence enjoyed the high school plays given in the Little Theater Monday evening, under the direction direc-tion or Miss Bernice Park of the speech department. Matinees for students were given Monday afternoon af-ternoon and on Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. The first M. I. A. stake dance is ' scheduled for December 17, at Memorial hall. Plans have just begun for the dance which is expected to. be outstanding in the social calendar. There will be special decorations and dance demonstartions and everyone is urged to keep the date in mind and plan for a good time on this occasion. Other details will be announced later. The Legion auxiliary1 plans to distribute Thanksgiving, baskets to the needy families ' of World war veterans in this community and Mapl et o n. Mrs. Mary Weight, committee chairman, has the work in charge. |
