Show Mapleton School Library Benefits From Funds Contributed by Lions The Mapleton Lady Lions presented the local school with twenty-five dollars last week to be used to purchase new books for the school library. Principal Timothy Moran accepted ac-cepted the contribution in behalf be-half of the school. "49'er" dance which will be held Feb. 14 in Memorial hall. Proceeds for this dance will be used to finance the Little League Lea-gue Baseball teams. Tickets may be purchased from any Jaycee member. The Jaycees held a trap shoot at the Provo Gun Club range Sunday. Money received will be used to finance civic improvements. Keith Wiscombe was in charge of the Elders chicken dinner in the Mapleton Second ward where their wives were honored guests. He was assisted as-sisted by Kelly Johnson, Daryl Hutchings, Lowell Lyman, Cleon Christensen, Richard Thompson. Thomp-son. The program was introduced intro-duced by Porter Leavitt with the following taking part: Joe Hunter, Gay Bennett, Bonnie DeGraw, and Mrs. C. Bramall. Lavell Bird spent a day in Fairview with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bohne. Young Phyllis Jackson was honored on her eleventh birthday birth-day with a supper party at the family home one day last week. Her guests included Linda Lin-da Tippetts, Mary Ellen Jacob-son, Jacob-son, Terry Lyman, Vicki Hooper, Hoop-er, Renae Cazier, Susan Ellis, Susan Burt and Mary Hjorth. Fun provoking games concluded con-cluded the evening. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Erickson of Murray was the scene of a well planned birthday supper Jan. 21 honoring honor-ing Orlando and his twin sister, sis-ter, Amanda Binks of Mapleton. From Salt Lake City the guests included Mr. and Mrs. Lee Erickson, Mrs. Amy Erickson, Erick-son, Mrs. Edith Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Clark, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Kearns and the hosts from Murray. Mrs. Marva Whiting entertained enter-tained the members of the Needle Craft Club at her home Thursday where a tasty hot lunch was served at noon by Blanch Tew, Bird Nielson, Gwen Allan and Amanda A social afternoon was spent at the home 6f Mrs. Charles Hatfield Thursday where her guests included Mrs. J. R. Banks, Mrs. Kelly Johnson and Mrs. Oscar Whiting of Mapleton Maple-ton and Mrs. David Boyer of Springville and Mrs. Theora Pulley, Mrs. Mildred Hatfield, and Mrs. Flora Maiben of Provo. Pro-vo. Refreshments were served. A Rug Bee was held at the home of Mrs. Marilyn Tuttle Friday which was attended by Mrs. John Westwood, Mrs. Ross Rieske, Mrs. John Davies, Mrs. Sid Headman and Mrs. John Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Lavar Christensen Christ-ensen of Upland, Calif., have been vis'itors at the home of his brother, Cleon Christensen and family. While here the two families spent a day in the Manti LDS Temple. Bishop and Mrs. Reed Bennett accompanied accom-panied them. Mapleton Jaycees and their families enjoyed a skating party par-ty at Park Ro-She Monday night. Niel Whiting and his color group were in charge of arrangements. Helping him were Joe Richmond, Jack Bona, Frank Carnesecca, Kenneth Harmer and Fred Medved. New members of the Mapleton Maple-ton Second ward were entertained enter-tained at a supper party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest L. (LaCelle) Bramall Friday night. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Parry Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bjarnson, Mr. and Mrs. George Leifson and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Reiske. |
