Show February Seen As Month of Yelfare Drives With the approach of February Febru-ary comes announcement of the many welfare drives to which townspeople will be asked ask-ed to contribute. Prominent on the list is the Primary Penny drive in which , Primary offi-canvass offi-canvass for pennies to help canvass for penies to help maintain the Children's Hospital Hospi-tal in Salt Lake City. The drive is a state-wide Primary project. In as much as additions are being made at the hospital to increase facilities for the handling hand-ling of more little patients, townspeople are being asked to double their contributions this year and whereas they have previously been asked to give a penny for each year of their age, they are being asked this year to double that amount. The 'theme is, "Double Your Age in February." Heart Drive The Heart Fund drive will also be carried on in Springville Spring-ville .during February. A captain cap-tain will be appointed to supervise su-pervise a house to house canvass can-vass in each , voting district during a special Heart Sunday drive January 22. Plastic hearts will be placed in various places of business during the month. Funds from the drive go to help finance research re-search on disease which annually annual-ly takes many jives. Polio Drive Under direction of Alan R. Stewart, general chairman- and Mrs. Blaine Thome, in charge of womens' activities, the March of Dimes will be carried here beginning Friday. A large corps of women captains of the various wards will make a house to house canvass. Mrs. Thorn 'said this week that some 200 will make the "March" Friday evening contacting con-tacting every home in an appeal ap-peal for funds to aid victims of arthritis and birth defects as well as polio. |
