Show Former Springville Man Saluted (For Outstanding Driving Record E. J. Wignall of Salt Lake City, a former resident and native na-tive of Springville-, was paid tribute this week by a Salt Lake City columnist for his outstanding automobile driving record. Believed to be the champion auto driver or close to it, the article stated that Mr. Wignall, who lives at 1059 First Ave., has driven 1,048,000 miles since he first began to drive in 1911. In all that time he has never been involved in an accident of any kind and the only citation ci-tation he has ever had was for over parking while he was : near a drug store trying to get some change for the parking meter. Now retired after 50 years in the laundry business, Mr. Wignall first drove an electric Studebaker. Since that time he has owned six other Studeba-kers, Studeba-kers, a Nash, one Chevrolet and five Fords, the article stated. And he has not had as much as a dented fender in all his time behind the wheel. A fine record for Mr. Wignall, Wig-nall, and the Herald salutes him for it. Can anyone in this city or any other former resident resi-dent come near this record? Another record which Mr. Wignall holds and one which will stand for comparison: he has taken the Springville Herald Her-ald practically his entire married mar-ried life and is still a subscriber subscrib-er in Salt Lake City and an ardent booster for his home town of Springville. |
