Show EDITORIAL An Invitation From Your Representative This week the Springville Herald and possibly every weekly newspaper in the state, received a communication from the state representative from their district asking them to urge the people to write' them their opinions op-inions concerning the proposed bill on Sunday Sun-day closing. There are so many pros and cons on this bill that it would be a difficult thing, we believe, for a representative to make a decision from citizens' response. On the face of the issue it seems somewhat some-what inconsistent to pass a law that would close every place of business so that all may groceries such as bread, is sold and let the other place stay open where milk (it being a drink) included in soft drinks is sold. Or to close a business where food is sold and leave places of entertainment, including taverns, theatres, and numerous other places open. On the other hand some may argue that it is a step in the right direction to close every place of business sothat all may rest on Sunday. But we still must have the services of nurses, doctors, druggists and many others on this day of rest. , The bill is indeed a controversial one and one on which some serious thinking should be made before writing our representative. repre-sentative. But if you have an argument for or against the bill, it is your right and privilege, and you are invited by your representative rep-resentative to let him know your views on this, as well as other issues which may come before the legislature. |
