Measures for enforcement of prohibition prohibi-tion under the wartime prohibition act and the constitutional amendment were proposed in a bill introduced today by Senator Sbeppard, Democrat, of Texas, author of the wartime measure. With ro-peet to provisions for search and seizure seiz-ure of intoxicants, the measure is similar to that introduced at the last session. The repeal bill was offered by .Senator Phelan, Democrat, of California, and is similar to that introduced in tlie house by Representative Gallivan, Democrat, of Massachusetts.-, Hills for enforcing wartime and constitutional consti-tutional prohibition were in troduced by Senators Sheppard, Democrat, of Texas, and Jones, Republican, of Washington. Senator Sheppard's measure follows the lines of one tha t failed in the last congress, con-gress, but Senator Jones's bill would apply ap-ply to all "alcoholic liquids containing one-half of 1 per cent of alcohol by volume." vol-ume." In the Sheppard bill liquor is defined as . Including "any distilled, malt, spirituous, vinous, fermented or alcoholic liquor and all alcoholic liquids and compounds, whether medicated, proprietary, patented or not." For the purpose of enforcing prohibition, prohibi-tion, the secretary of the treasury would be authorized to appoint a prohibition commissioner and various assistants.
