Tie died at the county hosnita!, at 8:50 o'clock last night. I The boy came into contact with the I high-tension wires by climbing one of the towers that carry them across the valley. Ho was conscious when found, where he had fallen to the ground from the tower, and asked his mother not to scold him for climbing the tower. The boy is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Peterson of Magna. For the few seconds that the current was racing through the boy's body to the , ground by way of the steel tower, the great Magna plant was without power, : and the machinery halted in its operations. opera-tions. This led the electricians of the plant to conclude immediately that some such nccident had occurred, since it wris tho most likely way of explaining the momentary short circuit. Investigation resulted in the finding of the boy at the foot of one of the towers not far from his home. It was while twisting about to avoid contact with the wires that the boy inadvertently in-advertently brought his right shoulder against one of them. The current burned his right side fearfully, destroying circulation cir-culation in the shoulder and arm. His face was badly burned, though his eyes were saved from destruction. News of the marvelous circumstance of the boy's survival of the shock traveled trav-eled quickly in the world of doctors and surgeons, with the result that nearly a score had visited the county hospital by early last evening to examine the victim of the accident. Dr. T. J. Howells, county coun-ty physician, informed the parents early yesterday afternoon that no hope could be entertained of the boy's recovery. Immediately, Im-mediately, as soon as he was under surgical sur-gical care, drugs were administered to ease the agony he suffered from his Injuries, In-juries, as the numbness of the shock began be-gan to wear off somewhat. |
