Show MUST DESIGN MOTORS FOR INFERIOR GAS : i COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 27. Automobile manufacturers of the United States have been notified that they must design an entirely new motor to conform con-form with a lower standard of gas, according ac-cording to an announcement made at the annual meeting of the American Petroleum Petrol-eum Institute, which opened here today, j A me-Hin was recently held in New York between a committee of the Auto-1 Auto-1 mobile Manufacturers' association and the board of directors at the institute, at which the manufacturers were told that they would have to design an entirely new engine. 1 r. Manning, director of the United States bureau of mines at Washington, Wash-ington, asked the Institute today for $,-tn'0,000 $,-tn'0,000 for the erection tind establishment uf a permanent laboratory where rt-search work mav be conducted. He did not make any suggestion as to where the laboratory mlht be built. |
