Show JIB COMPANY BUYS LARGE SURFACE RIGHT Operations on the property of the Jib Mining company near Basin, Mont., are proceeding satisfactorily, according to John F. Cowan, local mining engineer, who returned from the mine yesterday. Considerable rock work had to be done in order to erect the hoist. This has delayed de-layed operations slightly, but it is expected expect-ed that . pumping will begin In a week or ten days. A carload of ore was shipped to the smelter at Anaconda, according to Mr. Cowan. Hand sampling of the car showed an average value of $125 to lS0-per ton. It is the opinion of officials of the company com-pany that the report from the sampler will show a higher valuation, inasmuch as grinding of the ore to a fine state releases re-leases the free gold. In the case of the last shipment, by resampling, the valuation valua-tion placed on the car was increased $2000, according to Mr. Cowan. M. L. He wet t, vice president of the company, returned to Basin from New York City, Sunday, it is said. While there he completed a deal whereby the Jib Mining company acquires surface rights which were not included in the original purchase. This new agreement gives the company ownership of the light and water plant'which furnishes the town with power and water, buildings, lots, two automobiles and several cottages. |
