Show I NTflL EXPERT D.MET Dr. D. A. Thom Says Nervous Nerv-ous Troubles Among Soldiers Sol-diers Are Few. Dr. D. A. Thom, a member of the national committee on mental hygiene of Washington, D. C, stopped over in Salt Lake yesterday. . Dr. Thom is making a survey of the number of soldiers sol-diers in the country who are being examined for neurosis and mental troubles, such as shell shock, caused by tlue war. He says the problem is comparatively comparative-ly a small one, as the number of cases is less than 2 per cent, most cases being cured at the front beforo evacuation, evacu-ation, and 90 per cent being cured behind the lines. He says the few remaining re-maining cases will be treated by means of the establishment of health hospitals hospi-tals throughout the country, whero specialists spe-cialists will treat the cases. This will be done under the auspices of the public pub-lic health service. Dr. Thom is visiting the Btate mental hospital at Provo today, and from there will go to Denver. He has already visited tho coast. He was in consultation consulta-tion yesterday with Miss Charlotte Parish, secretary of the home servico department of tho Salt Lake county Eed Cross. |
