Bunn, thirteenth territorial governor of Idaho, now a resident of Philadelphia, is the only territorial governor of this state alive. This Information has just been transmitted to C. J. Brosnan, historian of the state. Governor Bunn is 77 years of age and active. He was known as "Idaho's Chesterfield," Ches-terfield," or the 'dude" governor, always being a model of sartorial correctness. He was given the latter nickname by a convict he once refused to pardon, and it has since remained with him. He proved to be an able chief executive. Literary finish and felicity of diction, characterized character-ized his state papers. Governor Bunn arrived In the territory June 24, 1S84, and resigned July 6, 1885. While governor he wrote on interesting book entitled, "How Some Reign Fejl Into a Life." He was opportuned by an autograph auto-graph fiend for a short letter. Bunn replied re-plied by mailing his correspondent a note on which was written oniy the letter "u." Governor Bunn is said to have been the handsomest man who figured in territorial terri-torial annals. At the present time he j Is retired from active business life, and , is a member of one of the exclusive Phila-: Phila-: delphia clubs where he makes his homo. Writing to Historian Brosnan, he expressed ex-pressed deep interest in the state over which he once presided. |
