Show iSSlei Idaho Air Lieutenant One of Two Men Missing Since Wednesday. SAN DIECO, Cal., Aug. 21. Colonel A. J. Hanlon, commanding the army aviation avia-tion forces at Rockwell field, North island, announced tonight two aviators ' from the Ninth aero squadron, with base here, had been missing since 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. They are Second Lieutenants Frederick B. Waterhouse of Weiser, Idaho, and C. I-L Connelly of San . Diego. EL CENTRO, Cal., Aug. 21. A thorough thor-ough search of a strip ten miles wide on both sides of the international boundary between Calexico and San Diego will be made for 'Lieutenant Waterhouse. an aviator avi-ator from Rockwell field on border patrol work who disappeared yesterday, according accord-ing to an announcement made today by Lieutenants G. W. Pardy and C. T. McLaughlin, Mc-Laughlin, who arrived here today from San Diego, they said, to conduct the search. After spending several hours here, refueling re-fueling and taking on water, the airmen departed late today. Waterhouse, they said, was last seen at Jacumba. several miles west of here, about 6:30 o'clock last night. No trace of his machine has been found. The searching officers could give no explanation for Waterhouse's disappearance. disappear-ance. They declared they would make a thorough search south of Jacumba, in Lower California. BOISE. Idaho, Aug. 21. Lieutenant Frederick Waterhouse, missing aviator, is 22 years old and enlisted as a private in the aviation service in December, 1918. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. G. M. Waterhouse, pioneers of Weiser. The first word the parents received that their son was missing came through the Associated Asso-ciated Press. Lieutenant Waterhouse has one sister, also of Weiser. |
