Wares has had nearly twenty years of major and minor league experience. At one time he was account ea one of the i lust I:. fielders tn the busltn-as. He Joined the Oakland club In 1917, going lo Acorns from the Texas league. Last ' August he was turned over to Seattle, v ti irnic olib hi HBttlMd ;'.ie oampabjfTt. He gave the Halnlers some good service, and helped them materially with his classy fielding and timely hitting. Wares is admittedly a fast and heady fielder, but Ills httUng when with the Oaks was of the streaky variaty. His batting with the Tillieums. however, was of a most satisfactory sort. Wares is extremely popular with ball players throughout the league and nan an ex -tended acquaintance with major kagu' managers. He will at once begin the assembling of a club for next year. Mike Kelley, manager of the St. Paul club, who wa mentioned as a probable choice, insisted upon purchasing a block of stock a a condition upon acceptance. The directors did not feel inclined to take Kelley on those terms. |
