Show SCHOOL HfflS GONFEjL TODAY Utah City and District Superintendents Su-perintendents to Meet in Annual Convention. Beginning at 9:30 o'clock this morning in the house of representatives at the capitol, the annual convention of city and district superintendents of schools in Utah will be held. The sessions -will last for two days, and. under the direction of G. X. Child, state superintendent of public pub-lic instruction, a number of important topics will be taken up. Governor Bamberger will he on hand to welcome the superintendents when they gather this morning. Following the address of welcome, the morning session will be devoted to -discussions of vocational voca-tional and part-time education, as provided pro-vided for under the acts passed by the last legislature. F. W. Kirkham, state director of vocational education, will lead the discussions. I. B. Ball wiil discuss agricultural education, Miss Jean Con will discuss home economics and L,eRoy E. Coles will talk on part-time class work.' The afternoon session today will be devoted de-voted to the important question of education edu-cation for citizenship. J. Fred Anderson will lead a discussion on "Americanization "Americaniza-tion and Illiteracy." Professor Mosiah Hall, state high school inspector, will talk on "Teaching Civics in the Classroom." The supervision of out-of-school civic and patriotic activities will be taken up by Mr. Kirkham, and H. Claude Lewis will discuss "Social Factors in Education." Educa-tion." With Dr. E. G. Gowans, state director of health education, presiding, the morn-' ing session tomorrow will be devoted to health education matters. Dr. Gowans will speak on the teaching of iiygiene, , and Miss Charlotte Stewart will lecture on physical training. Dr. Gowans will also speak on medical inspection, and Dr. T. B. Beatty, secretary of the state board of health, will discuss school sanitation. Miss Blanche Cooper will lecture on health work among parents and children of preschool age. The afternoon and closing session tomorrow to-morrow will be given over to the discussion discus-sion of general and special school administrative admin-istrative problems, with Superintendent Child presiding. O. J. Grimes, secretary of the slate juvenile commission, will give an outline of juvenile court plans and problems. Official organization questions will be discussed by Mr. Child and Professor Pro-fessor Milton Benhion will discuss voluntary volun-tary organization work. TO. J. The Utah vocational and junior extension exten-sion convention and the Pacific coast regional re-gional conference for part-time education, which has been held at the University of Utah since July 2S, ended yesterday.
