Twenty per- X sons are believed to have lost their lives when the schooner Gallia was sunk last 1 ; . night in a collision with the British j '.; steamer War "Witch. The schooner Is reported to have carried a crew of at j "i least fifteen and possibly a dozen pas- j j sengers, and only seven survivors are j named in wireless messages from the j ; S steamer. The collision occurred close to j , :;" St. Pierre and is supposed to have been j caused by the heavy fog. j ; Captain Y. B. Bennett, of the War 8 Witch, reported by wireless today that V his vessel had collided with the three- j masted schooner Gallia. The message j ' Kave the names of seven persons as i saved. These were presumably from the J C schooner. The War Witch was bound from North ' Svdnev from W a ban a, N. F., wnile the i Gallia was on her way to St. Pierre from : France.
