Show MISS GLEASON TO BE BURIED TODAY Prison Inmates Pay Tribute to Former Organist of Cathedral of the Madeleine. With pontifical high mass at 10 o 'clock, funeral services for Miss Nora Gleason, former secretary to Bishop Laurence Scanlan. will be held at the Cathedral of the Madeleine this morning. morn-ing. The Rt. Rev. Joseph Glass, bishop of the diocese of Salt Lake, will officiate. of-ficiate. The Knights of Columbus will take part in the services, and six of their number will act as pallbearers. These are P. J. Moran, .1. C. Dwyer, Joseph Dowel, A. J. Gillis, J. B.. Armstrong and James Kelly. W. A. Crowley is a substitute pallbearer. Tribute will be paid to the memory mem-ory of .Miss Gleason by the inmates of the Utah state prison. For years Miss Gleason had v isited the prison frequently, fre-quently, for the purpose of rendering musical vrograms for the men who arc confined there, and the old-timers had learned to know and love her for the-kindly the-kindly interest which she took in their welfare. As soon as the news of Miss Gleason Glea-son 's death reached the prison, the m-n asked permission to give substantial evidence, so far as they could, of their appreciation for her years of service in their behalf, and the permission was granted. Theu, out of the small amounts of money that have come to them through extra work, they donated a total of $23 and turned it over to Deputy Warden Dyer, asking him to purchase a suitable floral offering to be sent to the funeral. Mr. Dver yesterday purchased a floral harp, which, at the funeral of Miss Gleason, will express the appreciation appre-ciation of the prison inmates for her I long years of solicitous service in j their behalf. |
