Notice of a ruling by the war department depart-ment at Washington that cadets of high schools or other unauthorized military schools, boy scouts and military societies will not be permitted to wear any distinctive dis-tinctive part of the uniform of the army, navy or marine corps, or any officers' Insignia In-signia of the army, navy or marine, corps, under penalty of severe punishment, was received at the leal recruiting office yesterday. yes-terday. The ruling. It Is said. Is designed to settle discussions that have arisen relative rela-tive to the wearing by cadets of high schools and other Institutions of officers' uniforms and Insignia. In some cases., it is said, the cadets year uniforms of the army and In other uses they wear uniforms so like the regulation army uniform that it Is lm. possible for soldiers to distinguish them from regular army officers. The new ruling rul-ing forbids the wearing of a uniform that , Is similar to the regulation officers' uniform uni-form of the army, navy or marine corps. The text of the ruling as received here Is a follows: "An Instructor of a cadet corps In a high school, while entitled to wear the uniform prescribed by such Institution for wear by the instructors of its cadet i orps. Is expressly forbidden to wear the uniform of the United States army, navy or marine corps, or any distinctive part thereof, or a uniform any part oi which 18 similar to a distinctive part thereof, or the Insignia of rank pre-Cribed pre-Cribed lo he worn by officers of the United States army, navy or marine corps, or any Insignia of rank similar thereto." .
