Show NEWHOUSE SUIT IS PRIVATELY SETTLED Adjustment Out of Court Effected by Plaintiff and Samuel Untermyer; Details Carefully Guarded. Settlement out of court of the suit instituted by Samuel Newhouse against Samuel Untermeyer and others has been accomplished, according to report of the opposing attorneys to Judge P. C. Evans of, the Third district court yesterday morning. Nothing remains but the entertainment by the court of a motion from counsel for the plaintiff for dismissal of the case. No stipulation was filed, the details of the settlement being absolutely guarded. It is understood that the dismissal will occur within the next few days, as soon as all details of the settlement have been completed. The suit was filed by Mr. Newhouse to recover certain securities, including 60 per cent of the stock of the New- i house Realty company, which, the complaint com-plaint alleged, the defendant had continued con-tinued to hold after the liability to secure se-cure which they were pledged had been met. The securities in question were placed with Mr. Untermeyer, it is explained ex-plained in the complaint, at a time j when the defendant furnished money with which some of the business and improvement ventures of Mr.'Newhouse in this city were protected. Settlement of the case out of court removes possibility that the public shall be enlightened fully as to the business dealings between the old-time ! friends, the estrangement of whom caused a considerable stir in million- ! aire circles at the time of the filing j of the suit. |
