Show the disfavor with which the administration adminis-tration regards the officer on account of his speech-making habit. Another story is to the effect that his close association asso-ciation with former President Roosevelt Roose-velt has led to his being thrown into the discard. The most plausible theory, however, is that General Pershing does not want him on tho other side and has recommended that he be kept at home. This has happened iu tho case of other officers assigned by tho war department to command large units, and it seems probable in the case of Major-Genoral Major-Genoral Wood. It is generally understood under-stood that when President Wilson selected se-lected General Pershing to command our army in Europe the latter was given the privilege of selecting bis chief subordinates sub-ordinates and so far as known none of liis wishes in this all-important matter has beon turned down. As tho situation situa-tion now stands, General Pershing is not only commander of the American forces abroad, but is also ranking officer of-ficer of the regular army on the other side. WOOD'S CASE.
