Custer county, Idaho, was killed in action .November 2. Mr-. .Smith left for Camp Lewis April 30 last and was sent to Camp Merrill, X. J., with K company. 3tilst infantry, in June. Tie left for France in July. Mr. Smith was born at Challis, Idaho, June 2t, lSf'O, but was brought up at Clayton, lie finished fin-ished public school at Clayton and was graduated from the Boise high school in 1910. He was an expert mechanic and machinist, lie leaves his mother, stepfather, step-father, one sister and two brothers: S. M. 1 ,cigh, Miss Lizzie Leigh, John It. Smith and George W. Smith, stationed at Camp Kearny. The last Jet ter received re-ceived from Mr. Smith, dated October Jti. said he had been in action. Oliver 1'.
