Show INTENT TO COMMIT MURDER, IS CHARGE Former Soldiers Arc Accused of Making Attack on V. L, Jones, Negro Porter Por-ter ou U. P. Train. Special to The Tribune. OODltiN'. Dec. 11. Ch.irpea of intent to commit murder were filed against former Serjeant Sllbert Ktiy and former Private. Mason J. Chapman, by Special Agent H. H. Car.lon of the Southern Pa-infio Pa-infio company today. The accused men vill bo arraigned before Judge 1. R. Rob-ens Rob-ens In the city court next Tuesday. The soldiers, who are said to have been recently discharged lrom the army, are churpreci with making an assault with a whisky bottle upon W. L,. Jones, negro porter, on the train upon which the defendants de-fendants were riding. Tbo condition of Jones, who is in t lie local hospital receiving treatment for a number of cuts upon the face au'd arms, is reported as being satisfactory. It is staled he Tvill leave the 'hospital within a few days. The former soldiers allege that they purchased a bottle of whisky from Jones and paid him $10, and that later when .(ones saw about $r.'M in money carried by Chapman, he attempted to steal it. The fact that Jones has iried twice to pet away from the hospital and the police po-lice station. Is taken by the police to indicate in-dicate that he did not 'wish an investigation investiga-tion of the alleged liquor sale. |
