It has been nearly near-ly nine mouths now since the local DOxing fans have had an opportunity of witnessing witness-ing a set of battles and they are no doubt eager to see the boys exchange wallops. For the six-round headliner Manager Downing has matched up the one pair of boys now in this locality that the fans havo been impatiently waiting to see Young Gilbert ana Ned Toung. These boys were booked to nipct in the only show held by the Manhattan club this season, hut Young was taken suddenly sudden-ly ill on the night of the bout and was unable to go tli rough with the match. Since that time they have both kept in shape in auUi);ition of the game reopening reopen-ing at any time and with the few days remaining between now and Monday they wilt have ample time to put themselves in the be A of condition for the fray. The boys are the keenest of rivals, although they have never met in the ring. The regulars of the Manhattan club realize that it is likely to he a real battle bat-tle from the time the first gems rings until one or the other has put over the winning wallop. The boys' friends who know the feeling that exists between them are wildly enthusiastic over the match, a.s they know that the boys will )Oth be In there to do or die. The boys are both employee! in the Denver Kio Grande- shops and the in-lerest in-lerest is so keen that the entire plant-has plant-has tiken sides. While, the opinions of the fans seem to ho about equally divided as to the outcome out-come of the battle, practically all of them agree thai it will he a real give-and-take battle, with one or the- other taking the count before the end of the six rounds. While the rest of the card has not yet been completed, Manager Downing says that all the hoys have bee n keeping in prttty gootl shape since the time for the winter season and that he will have five other pairs of battlers to round out the evening's fun. |
