Show GOOD LEAD SHOWING AT CALUMET MINE A fine showing of lead carbonate ore on the uppor, or sixty-foot, level of the Calumet Calu-met mine. In northwestern Iron county, has been uncovered. The superintendent writes to company headquarters that a six-Inch streak of ore In the breast of tHe south drift baa widened to two feet. In the north workings, on the seventy-five-foot level, an Incline has been sent down on the strike of the bedding and has just broken into ore at the bottom. This jiolnt is 125 feet from the ore face in the south drift. Owing to the railroad embargo, the Calumet has made no shipments since August, and the bins and mine workings are full of ore. There Is a carload In the railroad yards at Lund and hauling of the ore from the mine is In progress. |
