Show CORN MARKET CLOSE CHICAGO, Dec. h. Corn advanced in price today, owing more or less to persistent per-sistent smallness of receipts, despite announcements an-nouncements of a better supplv of railway rail-way cars. The market closed firm, c to lc not higher, with January at SI. 21- and May at J1.1SJ4 to 1.19. oats gained iy,c to le, and provisions 50c to 1. Notwithstanding that a slleht tendency to srs was noticeable at the outset in the corn market, prospects of new price-fixing price-fixing legislation appeared to have lost torce as an element of depression. Un-fulnllmont Un-fulnllmont of hopes that arrivals would materially Increase and that rural offer-inss offer-inss would broaden out led soon to a hardening of values and there wa.s a decided de-cided further display of bullish sentiment after a rise in the oats market to fresh high price records for the season. The scarcity of com available for immediate delivery was empliaiel by an advance of 5c to 10c being quoted for new crop supplies. Bulges in the price of oats resulted chiefly from the fact that stocks here were meager and receipts disippointine; in volume, although current reports told of Improved freight facilities. Buying attributed to packers hoisted provisions to the maximum of the day's limit. Offerings were scarce on the way up. Hog receipts compared unfavorably with last year's totals.
