As the climax of a bitter feud that has been raging for two weeks in Greek-town, Greek-town, George PbotopouJos. owner and editor of "Kvzonos," a Greek newspaper published in this city, received injuries that may cause his dea.th, when be was pounced upon at 9:30 o'clock last night by three men. and slugged with some kind of a blunt instrument, the exact nature of which could not be determined deter-mined from the wound at the emergency emer-gency hospital, to which he was taken for treatment. Fhotopoulos was found lying" on the sidewalk in front of the Cra,ne. company building, by unidentified passersby, -who telephoned to 'he police, Patrolmen Gillespie Gil-lespie and Middleton being detailed to answer the summons. The officers discovered dis-covered the. man unconscious a. few moments mo-ments later and rushed him to the emergency emer-gency hospital where it was found that the entire right side of. his face had been crushed in by a biow from some heavy instrument, every bone of the cheek down to t lie lower .law being splintered. Blood was streaming from his ears and nose, which was said to he caused by a probable fracture at the base of the skull. He will lose his right eye, it is said, if he does not lose his life, as a result of the attack. How long the injured man lay in the street before being 'discovered could not be learned, but the police think it likely like-ly that he lay there at least half an hour. At the emergency hospital Photopou-los Photopou-los regained consciousness for a few minutes min-utes while tli e doctors worked over him, and was able to say in reply to a question, ques-tion, "Three men, Kayias and his brothers," before he again lapsed Into unconsciousness. This was taken by Ihe police to mean that he recognized his assailants as-sailants and Plainolothesmeii "Williams and Meager were at once set to work on that theory, but up to an early hour this morning no aiTests had been made. Photopoulos was later removed to the Holy Cross hospital, where lie was still 1 unconscious ealy this morning. According to Andrew Pappas, president of the "Greek Community of Utah," William Wil-liam Kayias was arrested about 1 wo week.9 ago at 533 West Second Mouth street, when the police raided a gamhling same at that address. Kayias is said to have been conducting the game, and when hooked at police head qua rters lie gave the name "Andrew Pappn.s." posing as the president of the Greek organization. Since that time.
