I Though the number of women who ) tegistered for war work recently was o great as to upset all arrangements made by the committees and render the present supplemental registration necessary, neces-sary, estimates made last night were that at least 1000 more women have offered of-fered their services during the last three days than at the first period. About 000 -women have registered during the lust three davs, MrsK. (). I.eatherwood of the committee on public information, said last night. With the firnt registra-I registra-I tion the total in iSalt Lake probablv wiJl be 11,000. Though the decision has not been made, many of the women in charge ot the work favor keeping open the registration regis-tration lists permanently at the headquarters head-quarters office in the biphop's building. Mrs. AV. N. Williams, ;tate chairman of the -women 's committee of the council of defense, is in charge of this office and but little additional work would be entailed. The matter of a permanent registration will be decided at an early meeting. Aside from gi vi ng women who were unable to register such an opportunity at anv time, the cards al-' al-' readv signed would be on file and could be alt ered at a moment's notice. On account of the absenco from headquarters head-quarters of Miss Ha rah Kddington, city chairman of registration, on account of I the death of a relative, no official count j of the cards was made and no date has i been fixed for their classification and tabulation. This will be done in tho very near future, however, as the committee com-mittee wishes to send its report to the national headtptarterts the first week in December. Though the registrations in Salt Take have been patronized by all class of women, the one just closed was notice-j notice-j ably patronized by those whose time to I a large extent is free for the work. The ' registration of the mothers of young children was comparatively liht, while that of women whose families no longer ! are dependent upon their constant pre--; ence in their homes and uf young and unmarried women and girli was cor re- spoadinuly h"avy.
