Show 1ffl5' DINNER TO BE BfflER EVENT Parade Will Herald Big Feast; State Dignitaries in Attendance. i The tenth annual dinner given the Salt Lake newsboys by Russell I. Tracy is ointf to be a "humdinger" this year, according to the plans announced an-nounced last night for this banner event by Charles MrGilLis. who has managed the affair since it 'as first started. i 'Already a whiff of what is going to happen has blown out of Tribune alley, al-ley, where the newsies have their headquarters head-quarters and where they will gather at 0 o'clock Thursday morning to make a big day of it, the biggest of the year. From the meeting place the youngsters young-sters will make their way to the Des-eret Des-eret gymnasium, the use of which for the morning has been donated through the courtesy of B. S. Hinckley. Here the 150 liveliest little merchants in Salt Lake will disport themselves and decide supremacy in many a rivalry until un-til they again don their street duds for the grand parade which starts from the head of Wain street at 11:45 o'clock. This parade is going to be a regular affair, with dignitaries including Governor Gov-ernor Bamberger, if it is possible for him to be on hand; Parson P. A. Simp-kin, Simp-kin, and others, in automobiles, the newspaper rustlers on fool, hunching their shoulders into each other and stepping on each others' feet, while the band at the head of the column bangs away at the merriest tunes it knows. The parade, will go south on Main street to Third South. Tt will serenade sere-nade the various newspaper offices as it passes, anil from Third South will counter march to the Lodge cafe, w-here the big eats are to be spread. Each newsie is to be properly bedecked with a carnation in his buttonhole. Then, when all are seated. Parson Simpkin is going to kid everybody along p. bit, just to get the party feeling feel-ing homelike and started right. ..While the good things are being disposed dis-posed of. Mrs. Ethel McLarnev, in charge of t he amusement features of the Lodge, wiil put on the entire programme pro-gramme of entertainment which is furnished fur-nished for the regular patrons of the Lodge cafe. Xot a feature or a song will be omitted. The newsies will get the entire programme. The menu as prepared by the Lodge management calls for turkey and dressing, dress-ing, cranberry sauce, celery, potatoes or squash, coffee or milk, fruit or randv or nuts and pie a la mode. With such a variety under cover some little time will be given for relaxation. relax-ation. But the youngsters will reassemble reas-semble again in time to be uets of Frank R. Xewman at the Pantagcs at the 2:30 o'clock performance. |
