Show MUSIC PROMINENT IN TABERNACLE SERVICE Choir and Soloists Do Good "Work in Special New Year's Programme; Two Apostles Speak. Miss Louisa Watson, soprano, and John Robinson, baritone, pans two splendid solos at yesterday afternoon's meeting In the tabernacle and the choir did some excellent work in a hymn and an anthem, an-them, all of these commendable features being part of a special music programme in honor of the approaching advent of the new year. Miss Watson sang "Fear Not, O Ye Israel," and Mr. Robinson rendered "Valley "Val-ley of Shadows," in each case the rendition rendi-tion being in exceptionally good and tuneful voice, the enunciation being excellent ex-cellent and the in Lerpretaiion of an especially es-pecially high order. The choir, under direction of Professor A. C. Lund, gave the hymn, "I Saw a Mighty Angel Fly," and the anthem, "They That Sow in Tears," impressively good renditions, and the congregation joined the choir in singing the hymn, "Come, Let Us Anew," as the opening number. While the service was part of the Ensign En-sign stake quarterly conference, It was also in the nature of a New Year's special spe-cial observance. First Chancellor John . M. Knight presided in the absence of President R. W. Y'oung, who Is colonel in command of the First Utah, 145th United States light field artillery, at Camp Kearny. Elder Arthur Winter uttered ut-tered the invocation and Elder John Woodmansee pronounced the benediction. Incidental to the music programme it was announced that "The Messiah" would be sung in the tabernacle from 5 to 6:30 p. in. on Tuesday. Apostles Rudger Clawson and Hyrtim M. Smith preached doctrinal sermons, the latter pointing to the duty of city officials to help parents in promoting the welfare of children by removing temptation. tempta-tion.
