Show ffl-ira TAKES OUT VALUABLE ORE With Added Depth Values Expected to Be Largely Increased. Special to The Tribune. CCPFERFIELD, Nev., Doc. 30. The raise which is being put up from near the iH'ti of the north drift on the No. 1 vein of the Nixon-Nevada mine at Copperfieid is now up about fifteen feet. In going this distance several tons of very good ore, some of which is almost pure chalco-clte.and chalco-clte.and will assay as hitch as 70 per cent copper, have been taken out and placed in the bins. The balance of the vein has been oxidized and the values quite largely leached out and redeposited at depth. It. Is the belief of Superintendent Oilman Oil-man that with another 100, or, possibly feet of depth, the zone of the primary sulphides will be, reached, and til ere the values should be big and evenly distributed distrib-uted in the entire vein. To demonstrate the truth of this, he is anxious to begin sinking the winze on this vein, which has been decided upon, but the start has f been postponed owing to a delay in the arrival of the big Cameron pump which " has been ordered and which is expected ;o take care of any increased flow of water that may be opened up either in this winze or when the No. 4 vein is en-' en-' countered. In addition to the ore coming from the raise on No. 1 vein above mentioned, sloping is also in progress on the No. 2 vein, the product being of the usual high, t grade, averaging over 40 per cent copper. Manager Jefferson has returned from the coast, where he made a contract for the oil supply for the coming year. The rate is very satisfactory, he says, and with the new Western Pacific station within a mile of the shaft house, there will be a material saving in the cost of fuel in the future. |
