Manager Essick of the Tigers, President Darmody and Manager Bezdek of the Pittsburg Pirates held a conference that may result in Vernon getting two players from the Smoky City. Essick wants a pitcher plus an infielder. Now that Essick Es-sick is firmly on the job, all sorts of rumors are flying that he is going to clean house, Infuse new blood into the Tigers, build a winning team, sure, etc. Amid all the smoke the-re is sure to be a little fire, so it is quite likely some of last season's veterans vet-erans will get the can. Perhaps San Diego will be selected, on account of the large number of soldiers and sailors there.
