Show HE OUTLOQK FOB SPRING IS FAVORABLE Existing Flourishing Conditions Condi-tions Give Ground for Optimistic Predictions. i Various mining men who have carefully followed the trend of current events, are of the opinion that there will be something some-thing of an a wakening in mining with the opetiing of spring, especially as re-gards re-gards tiie formation of new mining companies. com-panies. As reasons for their belief they point to the generally flourishing condition condi-tion of existing mining enterprises, the rapidly growing need for new mines to replace those tha t are approaching extinction, ex-tinction, the favorable metal market, the promising outlook for silver, and the prevailing pre-vailing and prospective enormous demand for metals of all kinds. They predict that peace requirements for the output of the mines probably will be as heavy for reconstruction purposes as the present pres-ent demands of the world war and they can see nothing but prosperity in store for the metal mining industry. They believe that enough additional labor can be diverted into the mineral fields to at least make an Important showing in tlje opening of old and new properties. The optimist, most fortunately, is more frequently right in his deductions than the pessimist. When he is told that certain things cannot be done he merely shrugs his shoulders and doggedly goes ahead with his undertakings, with the result that he overcomes the impediments said to be insurmountable and achieves success. This is possible in mining as well as any other line of legitimate business busi-ness endeavor and the problem of a lack of labor to develop the mines must be met by the optimist and conquered. If necessary the government, with its vast power and resources, should in some fashion come to the aid of the operators-and operators-and enable them to open more metal producers. These are .needed now a-nd will be more urgently wanted when existing exist-ing mines shall have exhausted their ore reserves. In the entire history of the world there never has been a. time when, apart from the- labor situation, the mining Industry offered as alluring chances for profit as now. thousands of promising old mines that can be profitably worked under modern treatment and mining methods, and thousands thou-sands of undeveloped mining claims lie idle throughout the west, awaiting a boom that will convert them into mints, to coin dollars for the investing public.
