Show SPROAT CRITICISES ACT OF ASSESSORS Members of National Woolgrowers ' Association As-sociation Asked to Take Stand Against Nonpartisan League, Speoial to The Tribune. POCATELLO. Idalio, Dee.. 30. In his opening address before the National Wool Growers' association, which is now in session at Boise, President Hush Sproat took occasion to criticise the recent action ac-tion of the State Assessors' association in recommending an increase of $2 a head on the assessed valuation of sheep. Members of the association were also called upon to take a stand against the Non-Partisan league. Dr. S. W. MeClure of Salt Lake, secretary sec-retary of the association, said that there is an over-production rather than a shortage of meat in the United States at the present time. The action of the public pub-lic in discriminating against the use of lamb, which was attributed to a misapprehension mis-apprehension In regard to the attitude of the national food administration, was deprecated. It was held that while it was probably necessary to curtail the. use of pork products, the restricted use of mutton and lamb was resulting in heavy losses to sheep growers, who have been encouraged en-couraged to increase production. |
