Show CITY MARSHAL HAS BROUGHT DEADLOCK Special to The Tribune. GUNNISON. Jan. 7. The new city administration ad-ministration assumed its duties promptly at noon on Monday and held its first business session on Wednesday even in A'. The council committees were appointed as follows: Waterworks. James Bown and Ray B. Me tea If ; streets and sidewalks. side-walks. Howard Roberts and Ray B. Met-cali Met-cali : elect rie lights. A. JI. K earns and Howard Roberts : finance. Mayor J. M. Knighton and James Bown; cemetery, E. L. sjwalhei and A. H. Reams. The appointive officers were: Justice of the peace. James P. Kjeldsted; building build-ing inspector. M. D. Beauregard: pound. -keeper. Parley P. Chi Ids. The appointment of city mai siial was deferred until the next meeting, due to a deadlock in the council. The following candidates for marshal were- presented: O. H. Hal vei son, receiving two votes: U. D. Christensen, two rotes: James Baxter, one vote. All the councilmeu stood pat. It was further decided that a large supply tank be installed for the Gunnison water system, and to this end Mayor J. M. : Knighton was appointed to inspect the ! water supply of Lehi and Payson. He was also appointed delegate to the state municipal convention to lie held in Provo. The council ruled that all slot machines and punch boards be ruled out on January Jan-uary 10. |
