Show HERNANDEZ DESERTS GENERAL CARRANZA Former Villa Commander Takes to the Mountains With His Followers. EL PASO, Texas, Jan. 7. General Rosalio Hernandez has declared himself independent of the de facto government of Mexico, according to reports from Santa Rosalia today, and Carranza sources admit his desertion from the Santa Kosalia district of Chihuahua state into the mountains with a band of followers, but were reticent as to the cause. General Hernandez was formerly a Villa officer, who turned to Carranza after the occupation of Torreon. A troop traiu was dispatched over the Mexico Northwestern railroad to Casas Grandes today and the first train, bearing bear-ing mining men back to the mines, was sent south, fille to overflowing. From the mining district of wettern Chihuahua came reports of 1000 Carranza Car-ranza troops arriving at Minara. "Wire communication on the Mexico Northwestern North-western railroad wa-s obstructed today by grounded wires at Pearson. The condition of General Victoriano Uucrta was practically unchanped. |
