Mam, the newly discovered spriul-(.!', spriul-(.!', is improving daily and is expected to win a place in the stale meet. Captain Watts has been stepping over the turf In the quarter-mile in fast time and should win a few points for the Gold and Blue. Walker, the game little distance man, has not been out for several days, owing to an injured toe. He has been under the doctor's care, hut phowg little improvement. His loss will leave a hole in the L. D. S. U. squad, as he was running run-ning the mile ami the h.-ilf-mile close to record time. Price, will be the best bet with Walker out of the game, nc.d should make a good showing. Price has been on the Injured list himself for several weeks, but i fast rounding into shape and may spring a surprise in the longdistance long-distance ove.nts. Cannon, in the pole vault, has been doing do-ing :i feet inches with little trouble and should be able to clear 1 he bar at 0 feet before tlie season -loses. lie has also been going over the bar in the higti jump at good heights, but his best mark seems to ho in the pole, vault. Bobbins will do tlie high-jumping for the school if he can keep up to form. A broad-jumper broad-jumper will have to be uncovered noon, if ui entry is to be made in this event. Watts won the jump in the class meet, but he will tick to the track events. Smith has not been making very good marks, so Coach Miller does not look for much success in this event. The dual meet with the Vast high this afternoon wil give the Gold and Blue coach a chance to give his men the "once over" in actual com pet Ition a nd then weigh bis chances In the division 1 meet.
